Number arithmetic operations
1. Multiplication Operation
Take a look at the following picture!
each group
contains ... fruit.
2 groups
The image above states:
2 × ... = 12 total
each group there are 6 pieces
4 groups
Next, pay attention:
a. Double addition
2 × 6 = 6 + 6 = 12
number 6.
b. Add three times the number 2.
3 × 2 = 2 + 2 + 2 = 6
c. Addition of twice the number 3.
2 × 3 = 3 + 3 = 6
So, multiplication can be expressed as addition
repeated.
