Understanding DNA and its Structure, For You
The DNA molecule is known as the genetic material that stores all the important information about all the cell activities that must be carried out to sustain life. DNA or Deoxyribonucleic acid is likened to a large library in which there are important books ( genes ) and neatly stored in the cell nucleus. The DNA molecule has a structure in the form of two polynucleotide strands (double strand), each of which is composed of a sequence of nucleotides in the form of deoxyribonucleotides. Each nucleotide molecule consists of three groups, namely a pentose sugar group in the form of deoxybose, a phosphate group and a nitrogenous base group .
