Hell's Bridge Thinner Than Hair Sharper Than Sword, Remember That
One of the terrible events that will be experienced by every person who has declared the confession of Tawhid is the need to cross a bridge that is laid on the two backs of hell. It is not only experienced by the Muslim ummah from among the ummah of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam , but all believers from the ummah of the previous Prophets must also experience it. This event will be experienced by every believer, both those whose faith is true and those who commit many sins, including the hypocrites. According to some commentators, the event of crossing the bridge over hell has been indicated by Allah in the Al-Qur'anul Karim.
"And there is not one of you, but come to hell. That for your Lord is an appointed necessity. Then We will save those who guard (against evil) and leave the wrongdoers in hell on their knees. " (QS Maryam verse 71)
The meaning of the word "come" is to cross over Hell by crossing the bridge. All believers- regardless of the quality of their faith- must experience it. Only Allah guarantees salvation for those whose faith is true (pious people). And as for those whose faith is troubled (the oppressors/hypocrites) will fall slipping into Hell when crossing it.
In a hadith even in more detail the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam describes the condition of the bridge in question. The bridge was thinner than a hair and sharper than a sword. Laa haula wa laa quwwata illa billah …! How difficult it is for us to walk across it. But God is Mighty and Wise. God will provide for those who have true faith to be able to cross the bridge. This is the description of Rasulullah shollallahu 'alaih wa sallam about the bridge with the events that accompany it:
“And the Hell of Hell has a bridge that is thinner than a hair and sharper than a sword. On it are iron hooks and thorns that take whoever Allah wills. And there are people on the bridge who (pass) like the twinkling of an eye, some are like lightning and some are like the wind, some are like horses running fast and some are
like a camel walking. And the angels said: "O God, save me. Save it. ” So there are those who are safe, there are those who are torn to pieces and then saved and there are also those who are rolled in hell on their faces. " (HR Ahmad 23649)
So, according to the above hadith there are those who will cross it safely and there are those who cross it safely but have to suffer injuries due to being hit by the thorns that tore their bodies. Then there are those who fail to cross it to the end. They slipped, slipped and fell and fell with their faces into the fiery hell under the bridge. Na'udzubillahi min dzaalika ...!
Then how can one cross it safely? The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam explained that at the time of the stressful event the Prophets and the angels were busy praying for the safety of the believers. They prayed: " Rabbi sallim. Rabbi sallim. (O Rabbi, save me. O Rabbi, save me). ” Then God will give light to everyone. Both those who are true believers, those who commit many sins, and those who are hypocrites both get it. However, while crossing the bridge, those whose faith is golden will continue to be accompanied and illuminated by the light until they reach the end of the crossing safely. While the hypocrites were only halfway across the bridge, suddenly Allah took away the light that had illuminated them so that they were in darkness and then they fell from the bridge of Shirath into the blazing fire of Hell. Na'udzubillahi min dzaalika …!
“Allah will call mankind in the hereafter with their names there is a barrier from Him. As for the bridge, God gives light to every believer and hypocrite. When they were in the middle of the bridge, Allah immediately took away the light of the hypocrites. They call on the believers: "Wait for us so that we may take some of your light." (QS Al-Hadid verse 13) And the believers pray: "Our Lord, perfect for us our light." (QS At-Tahrim verse 8) Then everyone will not remember others. " (HR Thabrani 11079)
My brother, what a thrilling sight. It is fitting that the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam stated that when the event of crossing the bridge over Hell is taking place everyone will not remember anyone else. Because everyone is busy thinking about their own safety.
O Allah, cleanse our hearts from hypocrisy, and ‘our deeds from riya and our words from lies and the sight of our eyes from treachery. Lo! Thou knowest the treachery of the eyes and what the hearts conceal.
